11th Weekend Of The Summer Gardening Season

Gardening by the Moon Weekend To-Do

An idea as old as agriculture, based both folklore and superstition but there are scientific ideas to back it up.

Later in the Week

  • Tuesday and Wednesday: Moon in the sign of Pisces - Plant for root growth
    • Ornamental grasses have many purposes. They can be used as fillers, borders, background plantings, or grown as container plants. But looks aren't everything; the gentle waving of the grasses and the accompanying sounds create a peaceful atmosphere within your garden.
  • Thursday: Moon in the sign of Aries - Harvest
    • When harvesting Chile Peppers, wear gloves and cut the peppers from the plant with scissors.
Other Things To-do
  • It's still okay to prune the late-season flowering shrubs. A good shaping will prevent them from growing out of control.
  • It's not too early to prevent the annual fall visit from raccoons by apply.
  • Beneficial Nematodes to turf and other areas that are perennial feeding grounds.
