Gardening by the Moon Weekend To-Do
An idea as old as agriculture, based both folklore and superstition but there are scientific ideas to back it up.

- Easter Lilies are best planted outdoors in a semi-sunny location although, they can be treated like a pot plant. Unlike Poinsettias, Easter Lilies are very difficult for gardeners to force into bloom because Easter is a rotating holiday. Their standard blooming period is late May through July.
- Marigolds, Lobelias, Vinca are now available for planting for summer color in sunny locations.

Later in the Week
- Wednesday-Thursday: Moon in the sign of Leo/Virgo - Weed. Prune, plant, and plant vines
- It's not too late to prune spring-flowering shrubs that have finished blooming.
- When planting Bougainvilleas, handle the root ball very carefully. They do not like their roots disturbed.
Other Things To-do
- With warm weather approaching, it's time to reestablish the watering basins around trees and shrubs. The basin should be six to eight inches high and should extend from the trunk to just beyond the drip line.
- It is an excellent time to reseed bare spots in turf with Scott's EZ Seed before the weather turns hot. Scott's EZ Seed combines grass seed, fertilizer, and a top dressing all in one product. To thicken up a thinning lawn, you'll need to reseed the entire area.
