Gardening by the Moon Weekend To-Do
An idea as old as agriculture, based both folklore and superstition but there are scientific ideas to back it up.

- Saturday-Sunday: Moon in the sign of Virgo/Libra - Plant seasonal color
- Vinca, Marigolds, Zinnia, and Salvia are great for those hot spots or in containers. Also, summer perennials such as Cornflower and Rubeckia are in full bloom and make a great addition to your garden.
Later in the Week
- Budworm season has begun, so look for worms on Tomatoes, Geraniums, and Flowering Tobacco. It would be best to look in the plants' center to find the worms or look for black feces on the ground.
Other Things To-do
- Blueberries are ripening now. You should pick only those berries that have turned a blue color. The rest will mature over the next few weeks. The Blueberry ripening season last about six weeks.
- With warm weather, replenish your birdbath often, as many birds, especially hummingbirds, enjoy the water on warm days. Not only do they need water for drinking, but they splash themselves in it to cool down.
- .Now is the time to prune blackberry and raspberry vines. The fruiting canes are pruned to the ground as these canes will never produce berries again. The next crop of berries will come from the new shoots at the base of the plant.
