Gardening by the Moon Weekend To-Do
An idea as old as agriculture, based both folklore and superstition but there are scientific ideas to back it up.
- Lunar Phase: Thursday, December 4, the Waning Half begins.
- Saturday-Sunday: Moon in the sign of Cancer - Plant root crops
- To keep poinsettias healthy, place them in a room with a temperature below 70°F. This helps prevent the leaves from turning yellow, curling, and dropping off. Additionally, avoid positioning them near drafty areas, such as near doors that are frequently opened and closed.
Later in the Week
- Red and white cyclamen are a great choice in areas exposed to wind and rain. They hold up nicely.
- You can personalize wreaths and garlands by using berries from Nandina, Indian Hawthorn, Pyracantha, or rose hips found in your backyard. To keep them fresh, apply Wilt Stop.
Other Things To-do
- It’s not too late to plant spring-flowering bulbs. If the ground is too wet, then plant them in containers.
