10th Weekend Of The Fall Gardening Season

Gardening by the Moon Weekend To-Do

An idea as old as agriculture, based both folklore and superstition but there are scientific ideas to back it up.

  • Lunar Phase: Day Light Saving Time end On Sunday: November 6: Full Moon on Tuesday 8: Veterans Day Friday, November 11
    • Saturday-Sunday: Moon in the sign of Aries - Harvest, weed, and control pests
      • Before removing struggling summer vegetables. It would be best if you harvested those that are mature.

Later in the Week

  • Monday -Thursday: Moon in the sign of Taurus - Plant seasonal color
    • With the growing season concluded, plant seasonal color close to one another to avoid the area from looking sparse during the winter months. This is an ideal time to plant Flowering Kale and Cabbage, as the cool temperatures enhance the vivid colors.
Other Things To-do
  • Now is an excellent time to plant new perennials or add new ones to existing areas. Iberis, Palodsum Daisy, Foxglove, Larkspur, Coreopsis, and others, planted now, will bloom this coming spring.
  • Finally, fall is the time to plant California natives, such as Buckwheats, Ceanothus, Toyons, and native bunch grass.
