- Lunar Phase: Full Moon, Thursday, August, 27
- Saturday-Monday: Moon in the sign of Capricorn
- Now that the Blackberry and Raspberry harvest is over, it’s time to prune off the older fruiting canes. These canes are pruned at the ground. From the base of the plant, select the most vigorous canes and attach them to a trellis, as these shoots will produce next year’s crop. Overall, the remaining growth.
Later in the Week
- When harvesting string beans, be careful not to pull them off the stem, as they’re prone to breaking. Pick beans every other day as they begin to mature to ensure they reach their full potential.
Other Things To-do
- Prepare your garden for the fall and winter by removing struggling tomato, pepper, and other vegetables. You can start seeds now, and transplants will be available at your local garden center in September.
- Finally, it’s not too late to prune the late-season flowering shrubs. A good shaping will prevent them from growing uncontrollably.
