Gardening by the Moon Weekend To-Do
An idea as old as agriculture, based both folklore and superstition but there are scientific ideas to back it up.
- Lunar Phase: New Moon, Tuesday, December 12: Happy Hanukkah
- Saturday-Sunday: Moon in the sign of Scorpio -
- Red and white Cyclamen, along with Zygocactus, are available for the holiday decorating season. They’re a perfect alternative to a Poinsettia.
Later in the Week
- Monday-Tuesday-:Moon in the sign of Sagittarius - Plant radishes
- Radishes can be grown in containers. Any size will do, although rectangular ones are preferred.
Other Things To-do
- To prevent Poinsettia leaves from turning yellow, curling up and dropping off, place them in a room where the temperature is below sixty-five degrees. Also, avoid areas where there is a draft created from opening and closing doors.
- And finally, you add a personal touch to wreaths and garland by using the berries from Nandinas, Indian Hawthorn, Pyracantha, or rose hips found in your back yard. They’re kept fresh by applying Wilt Stop.
