Gardening by the Moon Weekend To-Do
An idea as old as agriculture, based both folklore and superstition but there are scientific ideas to back it up.
Lunar Phase: Full Moon, Monday April 10th- Saturday-Sunday: Moon in the sign of Virgo - Plant flowering vines, seasonal color, and herbs
- Carolina Jasmine (pictured above), and Banksias Rose, along with Climbing Roses are the primary spring flowering vines.
Later in the Week
Wednesday/Thursday: Moon in the sign of Scorpio - Plant tomatoes, divide perennials, and prune- Tomatoes should be planted in a cylinder shape hole so they can be planted deep. You want the entire plant buried leaving only the second set of leaves exposed above the ground.
Other Things To-do
- The white foamy stuff on plants is from the Spittle Bug. It will be around for about a month, and does little damage to plants. I’d just wash it off with a stream of water.
