An idea as old as agriculture, based both folklore and superstition but there are scientific ideas to back it up.

Lunar Phase:  Full Moon Saturday, October 15 
  • Saturday-Monday: Moon in the sign of Aries - Plant for root growth …Spring-flowering bulbs such as tulips, daffodils, iris, crocus  can be planted in containers as well as in the ground. In addition, plant seasonal color to give you immediate color.

Later in the Week

Wednesday-Thursday: Moon in the sign of Pisces - Plant seasonal color
  • …With the shorter days and cool nights, the time is perfect for planting fall and winter color. Pansies, Violas, Primrose, Primula, Iceland Poppies, Cyclamen and others are now available.
Other Things To-do
  • ..Citrus can be  budded in October using a Slice Shield Bud. Gather the budwood in a week before budding and store at 34 degrees. Select only well-matured disease free budwood, and remove the leaves. If you use a plastic bag, leave the bag open to avoid condensation on the budwood.  
  • .... Finally arriving at your favorite garden center is the new selection of the fall and winter blooming Sasanqua Camellias. Besides blooming early, they have one other desirable characteristic and that is they will tolerate afternoon sun.
