Gardening by the Moon Weekend To-Do

An idea as old as agriculture, based both folklore and superstition but there are scientific ideas to back it up.

Lunar Phase:  Full Moon, Thursday, January 12.

• Saturday-Sunday: Moon in the sign of Taurus - Plant seasonal color and leafy vegetables.
  • Spinach, Lettuce, and Chard can be planted now. If it’s too wet consider planting them in containers and place them in a location that has lots of bright light.

Later in the Week

• Wednesday: Moon in the sign of Cancer - Plant seasonal color.
  • Now that the holidays have concluded, garden centers are being restocked with the seasonal color.

 

Other Things To-do

• All the indoor holiday conifer plants should be moved outdoors.  Once outside, remove the holiday decorations and wrapping, give them a good drink of water, and hose off the foliage.
